Burn Away... Kenneth Lim
In the recent months, we were able to acquire help from our Intern Kenneth Lim on starting a wood etching vertical. It started with some request from our neighbours, asking us to etch this and that, and since we have all the necessary equipment in place and most importantly... an intern, why not =)
Kenneth used to work for my ex-partner to help manage calls (in a help center) pertaining to network problem some years back. It was just only towards the ending of last year that he started coming down to the workshop in the evening (while attending school) to help out in the workshop and that's when I got to know him better as he has helped me on numerous occasions to prep version 1 of my arcade console's housing and it's wiring.
"Help prep" is a bit casual and in actual fact, he did a lot more than that which include: cutting, sanding and varnishing version 1 of my arcade housing... all I did was to assemble =) Yes, most of the time he went home "dusty".
In recent months, Kenneth have just graduated from the school of Engineering and is currently in the midst of applying for a flying position with Singapore Airlines and for higher studies... his take is "Whichever come first".
In the mean time, he has been nice enough to volunteer some of his time to help me do sales for my arcades and also work on wood etching. This boy definitely has talent and will definitely go a long way in life but meanwhile, while I still have him... "Burn Away Boy" =)
Though wood etching is nothing new and can be found all over the internet, most of it are piece-meal and requires some thoughts as well as skill, to put them "together". Kenneth was able to "piece" together most of the bits-and-pieces and made remarkable modifications to them which resulted in some of the "finished" work as shown.
Of course, some of these works are up for sale and if you have some custom cut in mind, do get in touch with me (which in the end, probably answered by Kenneth) =)
Like I say earlier, this boy has skill =)
