ABOUT ME

I’m a builder and a tinkerer by nature, and am always on the lookout for parts and thinking of ways to recycle used parts.  Over the years, I have taken apart many many (did I mention “many”) appliances, notebooks and build many many (did I mention “many”) electrical, as well as non-electrical, stuff but due to work-commitment, have never publish or post anything on the web.  I was more a “night-builder” and I’ll do many of my builds and fixes after office hours and over the weekends.

As a bit of backstory, I am an Electrical Engineer in paper but in reality did almost everything except electrical engineering works. As a tinker, I would often take non-working electrical appliances apart and try to fix them. To many of my friends, I’m known as the go-to guy for fixes and bargains.

In recent years, I finally decide to quit working for the corporate world to try something that I’m passionate about; and that’s “tinkering”.  To afford my dream, I have decided to build arcade system to sell them to the general public. Please note that the work is not just on my own effort but through many months of research, testing and trying to get to where I’m today. I would like to thank the following (in no particular order) for their knowledge and willingness to share that I have been able to attain my knowledge from their articles:

  • Ryan Bates @ RetroBuildGames on his insightful / in-depth coverage of his retro pie build

  • Rasmus Keonig Sorensen @ koenigs.dk on many of his in-depth coverage of retro pie build

  • Adafruit.com under the “learn” sections where wealth of information are covered on raspberry pie built

  • Instructables.com under the sections “arcade” where wealth of information can be obtained from there

Also, a BIG SHOUT OUT to Joven Tan from Deco Builders!!  This kid is incredible and at such young age knows just about anything and everything to do with wood!!  His passion for wood take him on a journey to develop and make "art" and "playing" cues for collectors, all build from exotic woods.  There are even species of tree that I have never heard of extinct wood that he collects.  I have just one word to describe him... "amazing". Try spending 10 minutes talking to him and you can tell his passion for wood.  I'm humbled by his knowledge and just within a span of a couple of days, he was able to help me on coming up with various "skins" for the "new" design of my arcade housing.  Cheers Joven if you ever read this =)

It only goes to show that it never hurt to share but most importantly, the knowledge gained is "expontential" for both parties and MOST IMPORTANTLY, you can never be too old to learn.
